Default Tire question

will 205-45-16 with a 40 offset rub on a DC2? I think 40 series on a 16" looks too small.

It should be fine. Are you dropped? How much?

yeah im dropped. prob 2 1/4" total. I ask because the guy on the phone who im dealing with says that for a 205 wide and 16", that i would NEED a 40 series tire so I don't rub. Every HT mag i read has people with 45 series on their 16's. Is he full of it?

If it helps, mine are 205-40ZR17. Car is dropped 1 1/2" roughly and they dont rub at all.

Please excuse the calipers, I'm powder-coating them blue this summer. All the de-ice around here is hard on stuff And my car is really really dirty right now. I'm washing it today.

I am running 205/45/16's (currently at stock height but will be at about 1.25" drop this weekend)..........I am fine, and will continue to be fine after the drop. If you rub at all, I would think it would be minimal and you could always roll the wells out a little. IMHO you will be ok, but maybe others have some different experiences....afterall, you are riding kind of low.

He's dead wrong.

205/45R16 is the correct size to preserve the original rolling diameter of the wheel. I'm a tiny bit skeptical of the +40 offset as well, because my 16x6" rims are a +42 offset.

Worst case scenario.. if you do rub with a +40 rim, a set of 3 or 5 mm hubspacers and longer wheel studs will solve your problem.

They aren't fun to install... and you do run some risk of having the OEM studs snap.

I believe BLOX makes oversize studs for the Integra.. but be sure that the thread pitch and diameter match. Google "Integra Wheel Studs".

I would try it and see how it sets up/works before you go through the legwork of trying to solve all of the "what ifs"........I am pretty confident that you will be just fine without any extra curricular work. Good luck!
