You aren't supposed to feel vtec engage. In theory, it should be a smooth transition from low to high cam to smooth out the torque curve. If it is engaging without a check engine light or bogging, there isn't a problem.

you have the common noob misconception that you're supposed to be pushed back into your seat when vtec hits. it's not a turbo. dont worry, now you know better.

it's probably a good idea for you to do a full tune up. oil, filter, plugs, wires, etc.

Low oil, oil pressure, or even Dirty oil can cause Vtec to malfunction.

I know what your saying, checking the dipstick & get an oil change quick! If you don't want to do it yourself, pay somebody the whopping 25 bucks and get it done. If your still having problems afterwards, get a Chiltons or Haynes and troubleshoot.

vtec runs off oil pressure so bad oil can cause problems
