Don't I have to get on it? Or am I just a lame-o?

Once the clutch is broken in and you can get on it, you will notice a big increase in acceleration. I never had any of the myths of a lightweight flywheel that everyone is so concerned about. I had no problem going uphill, no torque loss...the people that say things like that just regurgitate what others say instead of experiencing for themselves.

The only time you would want a heavier flywheel is when you launch from a stop. A heavier flywheel stores more energy so when you rev your engine and then drop it into gear, all that stored energy gets transfered to your wheels. On the flipside, because it absorbs more energy, it takes longer to increase in speed (slower acceleration).

The torque loss that people are talking about does not happen when at a consistent speed. When you switch gears your clutch pulls your flywheel down to a slower speed. When this happens, then energy stored in the engine/flywheel goes to the wheels. If you have a lighter flywheel, less total energy is transferred during this process. However, all the energy originally comes from the engine. You can either accellerate slower and give your car a little boost during shifting or you can accellerate quicker. Personally I'd rather keep my power rather than loan it to the flywheel and only get it back when I launch or switch gears.

I'm with you on this one. Hate to think I have nothing to look forward to.

I actually didn't think I had gains at first until I drove my friends stock 94 ls. Then I got back in my car and realized how much of a difference it made. And like people have been saying, once its broken in, just give it a nice stomp... you won't be disapointed

I have a 8 lb fidenza and stage one exedy install i couldnt paint you a before picture, because before the clutch was slipping really bad, but to put it in perspective, this is my first car, my first manual, and i am having no issues, it makes the car sound better faster revs and the acceleration is great i have about 5k on it.
