Default tips for installing left steering rack boot?

the outer end of my left steering rack boot is torn, and the joint underneath still has grease and looks like it is in good condition, but i'd like to replace the boot. the helms manual doesn't have a procedure for just replacing the boot without pulling the entire rack, and i am wondering if anyone has ideas on the easiest way to get the job done.

Thanks in advance!

What i was able to do is go to a regular autoparts store w/ my old ripped boot and compared it to theres. It ended up that i was able to cut/use the boot they had in stock.

So i just pooped of the ball joint of the steering rack attacked to the knuckle and slipped it over and vola!

Make sure you mark the tie rod and tie rod end so everything lines back up and your steering wheel is straight.

cool...thanks for the info!

do i need any special tools to get the ball joint out?

it looks like i'll have enough space to get to both ends of the boot if i take out the inner wheel well cover.

You were lucky. Some times you need either a ball-joint puller or a LOT of pounding to get the sucker off. Just be patient.
