Default Car overheating, what could it be?

So, here's what happened. It's a cool night. I drove around all night, car ran at below the 1/2 cold/hot mark like normal. I idled for about 20-25 minutes and at the end of that 20-25 minute idle (talkign with some people) the temp moved up to about 1/4th from HOT.

I started driving and it instantly cooled back down to the normal below half mark.
I get home, check the radiator. Radiator has 100% fluid in it. The resevoir has none. I fill the resevoir to just below the MAX line and idle the car for 10-15 minutes (closer to 10).

The car is sitting dead still, the temperature never moves one tick over the normal below 1/2 mark... but the fans *never* turned on.

So, what are you guys' opinions?
thermostat? switch? do the fans matter?
The engine was definatly warm when I started the idle test, and the fans should have kicked in within the first 2-3 minutes....

Let me know what you guys think, thankfully its almost winter so I dont have to worry too much.

No idea's? I tried again this morning, idle'd forever when the car was warm and no fans turned on, but it didn't even get to the half-way mark either.

your fan relay might be shot, turn on the ac and see if the condenser fan come's on.

Both fans turn on like a bat out of hell when I turn the A/C on.

change your thermostat, it might be sticking at idle, but when the water pump starts spinning it create's more pressure and forces the water thru the opening

I'm kind of in a similar boat. I pegged the thermostat all the way to the right this morning. I took it to Autozone and it looks like I've got a leak somewhere in the radiator itself, all the hoses looked ok. Just chillin in the parking lot a large puddle of antifreeze formed beneath my car.

The guys at Checker wanted $175 for an OEM radiator.
NOPI has Fluidyne's for like $360 + shipping. (Anyone have one cheaper?) I want to go FI in a year or 2, should I upgrade to the Fluidyne?

just for the info your fans are the last resort to keep your car cool b4 you over heat. they arent supposed to come on all then time. honda made pretty smart cars and honda knows that havin the fans on alot makes them have shorter lives and takes power mostly torque away from the motor and without much torque which we dont have much to spare it becomes harder to drive the car. it might just be your coolant because coolant just wears out over time. so your best bet is to mix either a 60% coolant and 40% water and flush the radiator with just water to make sure it starts running clear and then let the radiator drain and then fill it up with the mixture that i told you

Pomansouth, that's what I'm going to do today at about 3-4, just drain and do it 60-40 and see what happends. Hopefully all is well.
