Default gsr potential

So im pretty sure I wanna stay all motor, but I need your help to find the right path. I searched about cam gears and VAFC's but everybody dislikes the vafc (or its sister electronics) and nobody really has much concrete knowledge about using cam gears. If I wanted to boost all-motor power with I/H/E, cam gears, itr cams and stick with the dual stage manifold, what Engine managment mods and fuel mods (if any) would I need? How would I tune the cam gears? Can I use gears to set ignition on stock gsr cams?

Cam gears alone won't do anything since their strictly used for tunning.

If you want a decent all motor set-up, look into:
1. Bolt-ons I/H/HFC/E
2. Single stage Intake Manifold
3. more agressive cams ie: skunk2 or CTR

I've read alot of people just using Vafc to tune this set-up, i don't know if you really need a better engine management system for the set-up. I also know your going to need new injectors to tune with.

I'd say... Chip your ecu and prepare it for chrome, gets some 310cc injectors (alot of guys will have these spare for when they upgrade their Greddy turbo kit) and then get it tunned.

First you should decide if you want to go forced induction, or all motor.

Cam gears really have nothing to do with your ignition timing. They are used to tune your valve overlap. If you plan on turbo charging, ITR Cams and Cam gears will definitely help. Do not adjust them without a dyno, you can severely damage your engine.

To tune your ignition timing and fuel, you should use something that gives you complete control, such as a Chipped OBD-1 ecu and Crome. An AEM Standalone is good too, but very expensive.

if I was going to use food's mock set-up, I would definately need some sort of VTEC control for the ssimo. Can I use a VAFC with my stock ecu? (obd-II) how do they work, just plug and play? Can the VAFC control timing and fuel? shooting for about 200hp/150tq just motor no spray?

vafc's only control fuel and vtec x-over. ideally you want to convert to obd1 and use something that's fully programmable.

won't get it with that set up or with a VAFC for that matter, the vafc is a piggy back computer, but the problem with obd 2 is that it will learn its way around it, and go back to the orginal setting. so u will need some bottom end work and a true stand alone to hit the numbers u want

you can hit 200whp with good bolt on's and good cams on the stock block. by good bolt on's i mean a nice flowing header, smsp/rmf/ssr/hytech, 3'' intake with velocity stack, and 2.5'' exhaust. oh and tuning of course.

not saying your wrong just would love to see a dyno sheet with the mod list..

i'll see what i can dig up. but what i can see that was holding up your build was the header, exhaust, and intake. not the best flowing setup.
