Default 1993 Integra...NEED HELP!!!!

Hi. first id like to appologize for my idiocy when it comes to cars. i really kno next to nothing about them. anyway, the situation is i bought a used 1993 Acura Integra LS about 4 months ago. it workd/drove/started then

Its been sitting for the last 4 months because ive been out of the area. i tried starting it up last week, and got nothing. i bought a new battery, replaced it, and put some new clean gas in. it fired right up. I know i have a transmission fluid leak, so i refilled that. then i started the car up (it fired right up, no problems) and let it run for 10minutes. I then put the car in reverse, pushed the acceleration, and the car didnt move. i then put it in drive, pushed the accelaeration, and once again, no movement. the engine revs, but the car doesnt move at all. i dont understand it. mind u im broke as hell, but i need to get this car up and running, or scrap it and buy a new piece of shit car. does anyone know what might b the problem? or how i might b able to fix it?

thanx in advance, very much
James

Sounds like you have an automatic right? Sounds like your transmission definitely has a problem. What fluid did you fill the transmission with? Using the wrong fluid could make it not work correctly, or if the car has a lot of mileage the tranny could just be worn out.

thank u for the response. yes the car is an automatic. i used the same stuff the previous owner had been using. 'Automatic Transmission Fluid' from Mobil.

is there anyway i could replace this myself, or is this a guranteed mechanics job, and stint in my wallet?

Everything I've read says you are supposed to use ONLY Honda ATF. That is the first place I'd start - drain it and go get yourself some fluid from the dealer.

yeah i agree with fast back what i would do is a transmission flush drain it, new oem atf from dealer new oem filter from dealer, and go that route and see if it works again, worst case you can always find a rebuilt tranny for cheap and you and your buddies throw it in on a weekend
