man if you guys just take better care of your cars this type of shit would hardly ever occur, as soon as you get a used or old car, replace the simple things, oil filter, oil change, plugs and wires, pads and rotors, timing belt, hoses, and othe misc. parts, is that so hard to do, thats what i did to my 93 rs and which i sold to my friend. till this day (4years later) still never had a problem cause of the parts i replaced when i got it. so dont wait till it breaks, replace it as soon as you get it, and if you broke thats your fault should get your ass a steady job and keep it.

damn skippy. don't assume anything has been maintained like it should. the most basic maintenance can make or break the life of your car.

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME SOMEBODY SAID IT!!!! i've been telling all these rice-boy kids for years, the best bang for buck performance upgrade you can do for your car is ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. these dumbasses are stuck by the side of the road because they spent the money for their tune-up on a racer wing instead

everyone gets a used car and the first they want to do to it is add rims, i/h/e, etc etc. $250 on parts to do a tune-up yourself will give you a hell of a lot more horsepower than an aem cold-air intake!!!!

Thanx guys, I'm trying to replace the "Coil pack" or what I think is the distrib.

I pulled off this plastic cover that the plus wires go into, and it seems like a pointless piece of plastic. Not totally pointless, but very unimportant.

I am going to buy the part tommorrow ($53 AdvanceAuto), but I was trying to maybe take it off, and know what I was getting myself into first.

I've never done this before.

THANX FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!!!!

I have one issue for you guys and the little convo going off this thread:

You guys are talking about routine maintince etc.

Well I usually change my oil every 3000, and do the spark plugs once a year.I don't drive enough to warrant doing those any sooner.

Now I looked into timing belt replacement, and these dudes told me the timing belt is tied into a bunch of other shit in the engine that will also need replacing.I know they were BSing somewhat.

Know they told me $700 for just the timing belt labor and parts, not inculding all this extra crap.

I bought this car for $2000, and I just don't see spending half of what I paid for it to keep it in top shape.

I just figure sell the dang thing. I can probably sell it for what I paid for it:$2000

just get a haynes and helms manual and do the work yourself... save some major cash and learn how to do it for future knowledge...

go to the honda dealer (not acura) you can usually get the entire timing belt package (timing belt, tensioner, water pump, etc etc) for around $500, plus your receipt has the honda logo on it so when you sell the car, people know it's in good shape.

as for the coil, you're pulling off the cap. the coil is behind the rotor, which is under that cap. you don't need to replace the entire distributor, just a little electrical component that resides inside it. someobdy link him to the helms for DAs.

I think If I get that off, I can get it done.

that's the rotor. it spins around inside the distributor cap. there's a tiny screw on one side that you unscrew, then you can pull the rotor right off. you have to turn the motor til the rotor is aligned properly. use a 19mm socket with a couple of extensions. turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, and behind the left front wheel, there is a little slot in the plastic. stick the socket through there and you'll get to a bolt. turn that bolt CLOCKWISE, slowly unti lthe rotor is aligned so that you can get to the screw. i know this sounds complicated, but it's not when the car is in front of you. i'm gonna try to find you the helms.

ok, this is for 94+ but the procedure for changing the coil should be very similar. this is a HUGE file, with tons of info, so be patient when digging through it.
