92 Integra:Sudden Death
I was having no problems with my '92 Acura Integra 4D.I was driving to a friends house and the car was on "e" with gas before I left.Well It was making strange noises, and kind of "knocking" or sputtering. It semmed more like a sputter to me.I ppput gas in it, and it still made the noises, only to break down at the next stop sign.
Now I cannot get the car started, and don't have a clue as to what the actual porblem is.
I was thimking fuel filter, but I cannnot tell what to do.
I know little about cars, and I'm broke as hell, so I need to get this thing home if I can to fix it, but its stuck at a gas station.
The spark plugs are new so I don' think they are the problem.I was wondering if maybe I ran out of gas in all reality, rode fumes to the station, then never got gas in the carborator.I heard to pump the gas when you run out to pull it into carb, but that did'nt work.I also heard poor gas into the carborator itself.
I thought that sounded a little dangerous.
Any thoughts or help?
I just need to get i few miles (8) to my house.
IT was starting perfectly fine before, It wants to turn over batterywise.
I'm not even sure If my oilPRessure light is coming on or not.IT seemd to ,but when Im trying to start it, it goes off.
I leak a small quantity of oil.I usually only need a quart every month.I constatly check it to make sure it never gets low, and was fulll at the time of the breakdown.
PLEAS HELP!
Thanx in Advance

Yes
I will not fully crank , but it wants to start.
It's basically acting normally in terms of cranking/"turning over", but the engine will not start up.
This happened very suddenly with no warning. The night before the car was perfectly fine, if that helps.
Thanx for your response.

You also might have sucked up sediment from the tank and the fuel injectors are all gummed up. Try dumping in some fuel injector cleaner and a little bit of high-quality gas (not high octane, necessarally, but just high-quality - from a place you know isn't going to give you watered-down fuel).

I once ran my civic too low on fuel, and it was really hot outside, so some of my gas evaporated to the top of the tank. I put more gas in there, and it still didn't work immediately, but it was fine the next day. Try putting in a bottle of heet or some other fuel additive that cleans it up real well.

There are a LOT of things that can make an older car not start. On my stock DA I recently had no symptoms at all and then one day it wouldn't start - the coil had gone bad. Wires, cap, rotor, plugs and then igniter and coil would be the next things I'd start looking at if the other suggestions don't help.

I had just changed plugs and wires in Dec.
I looked under the hood and saw a wire disconected from the distributor.
I reconnected...nothing
So I went and got new wires: nothing
So I got new plugs and am installing them now.
Only problem is last time I did this was my very first, and I did not know about anit-sieze and boot protector.
So I have a plug in there taht is stuck like all hly madness:
any suggestions on that? How to get it out.
I think Im about to snap my Ratchet.

Be *very* careful, you do not want to strip that thread or break off the plug. That would make things a LOT more expensive to fix. Just a word of caution - never over tighten your plugs when you install them and always use anti-sieze.
Use a spark plug socket and tap on the head of the wrench LIGHTLY to see if you can jar it loose.
