Where are you? Do you have to pass California smog checks?
If California emissions legality isn't a concern, there are other turbocharger kits available for your model year...

RE: JRSC
Talk with tegbooster about the Jackson Racing SuperCharger for a first-hand account. There was a time when I was considering a JRSC for my '97 LS... but after researching the options and reading the experiences of others, I wouldn't use a JRSC if it was given to me.

Moss Motors has a spotty track record in supporting the JRSC line.
I don't have the link handy, but one account described a hellish customer service battle when the supercharger started leaking oil. Granted, it's one instance out of many...but it's something to consider.

Also, the JRSC is less efficient. For the same level of boost, the Eaton supercharger heats the intake air more than an appropriately sized turbocharger. And there are a very limited range of solutions to cool the intake charge because the supercharger is bolted directly to the intake manifold.

Re: Nitrous
Nitrous is certainly an option for occasional use... but keep in mind the expense of refills; expect to pay about $4/lb. And it's not a solution that is entirely without risk. I grenaded an otherwise healthy motor in my 91 GTi because of a mechanical failure within the distributor that occured while I was spraying.

But all of this is secondary to the issue of diagnosing your currently ailing motor.

another problem with nitrous is that it won't always spray as hard. with every time you let it out you lose more and more pressure in the can and thats less pressure and volume displaced into the engine.

I would do a compression and leakdown test before you start throwing parts and money into your car. TheOtherDave is right, your problems don't sound too extreme to warrant a new motor, yet. Are you getting oil all over the spark plug well??? Like on the plug wires too? And for the idle surge, Fast Idle Thermo Valve or the Idle Air control Valve should be looked at. If you have a fast idle thermo valve, I would start there.

Most of the oil in there is not on the spark plugsthemselves, and I did a compression test and thats good, and I think for my car those two valves are one in the same. But the idle only surges for less than a minute when its realy cold

Given the relative health of your stock motor, it's a $2800 mistake.

I don't know how else to say it... rebuild the stock motor.

It seems like a waste when the parts and labor needed will cost almost as much as a new more powerful motor.

I just looked at autozone and just parts if i replace the headgasket and piston rings and valve stem seals it would be 300 for just the parts...god only knows how much the labor is gonna be. I found another thread on here where a shop wanted 1-2 grand just for the piston ring job...I imagine the head gasket wuold want too much more cause u have to take the head off anyway, but I dont know about the valve stem seals.
