Thanks Spec R

I'll remember to open the vents next time.

Definitely don't leave it on recirculate. The main blower is under the glove compartment as stated above, but the helms doesn't show where the incoming air comes from.

Febreeze :hsdunno:

Open your hood. At the back of the engine, you'll see a plastic grating. This is the ventilation intake. Get some Lysol (kills the bacteria) in the scent of your choice and spray it in there. I would 1) turn OFF recirulation, 2) get the fan going on high using the middle vents (not defrost or feet), and 3) spray the lysol for 20 seconds. It'll smell fine after the lysol gets to work.

After this is done, turn off your A/C 30-60 seconds before you stop in order to dry out the system a little.

NOTE: Your A/C should not be on when you do the procedure. The turn it off 30-60 seconds is after you've gotten your system smelling good and start using your A/C again.

sure.. just make sure recirc is off so that it does pull air from the outside. like bullmtnbiker said, the intake is at the passenger-side of the windshield cowl. you have to open the hood to get to it.

also, make sure your a/c drainage tube is not clogged. you will find it under the glovebox. you'll see a rubber tube going thru the firewall.

lysol i've heard is hit or miss. it didn't work for me, but i think i had a problem beyond the vents. klima-cleaner is supposed to work nicely though. i did use that. left a nice fresh scent in the car. i also had the interior gutted, fixed a few leaks, and steam-cleaned the carpets before putting them back in, which i think ultimately killed the stench in my car.. :chuckles:

good luck.

Yup... at least that's what I've done in the past... for my minivan.

Is it like behind the battery or something?

Don't have a camera on me... basically look at the back of the engine bay where your windshield wipers are. The plastic piece that goes all the way across your engine bay right underneath the wipers has a pretty big grating in front of it (there is grating all the way across the piece of plastic between the two windshield wipers). That's the air vent intake.
