Default NOOO!!! problem after problem. tranny, clutch, please read and give input

So I just had my clutch replaced, the old one was slipping. I opted for a plain clutch and got a Dynapak (fenco) clutch, and already its chattering and not holding very good, only one month later. I was also hoping to replace an odd noise while accelerating, which turns out to be the input shaft bearing, and i need transmission work to fix the bearings, however the guy who looked at it said once the bearings start to go, the gears start to wear, and it may be a good idea just to replace the transmission.

i spent like 900$ on the clutch and labor and now after one month its all ****ed, the installer blames the parts, im sure the parts supplier will blame the installer. its a 97 GS-R with 103,000kms. Should I sell it? sink more money in get another clutch, a new transmission.. please help, this feels really ****ty.

how much are you willing to spend? are there any 6 speed setups out there (i know of a few for scoobies) HKS has some gearsets. possibly something there.

if your looking to stop sinking money, selling it now would certainly get you some good cash, and you could put that down along with a small loan, and be driving something a lot newer/nicer.

good luck, but coming from an auto part's background, when the tranny goes, everything else tends to follow suit, and bring your wallet along with it.

If you just put a clutch on and it's already chattering; that sounds like a bad install.

Did you install a new flywheel when you changed the clutch out? Did you at least have it resurfaced? If it's chattering when you let it out, that's why. That's the installer's fault. And for $900, they damn well better have at least resurfaced it.

Did you break in the clutch properly? Either that, not resurfacing the flywheel, or a bad install can cause what you are describing.

Yeah, I paid for them to resurface it. Its annoying because i have really no way to verify it. im going to probably pay another shop to look at it/redo it and if they can prove the first job was ****, i will sue the company for the cost of the labor.
