Default cold start

my car runs great and starts fine when warm. but a cold start i will turn the key and it will take about 2-4 sec. for anything to happen. sometimes it wont do anything. when i turn the key nothing at all happens and then it just turns over and cranks all of a sudden. i just got a new duralast gold battery from autozone about a week ago. my alt is good also.

Did it happen before you got the battery?

Do you turn the key to start let the fuel pump, get the fuel to the engine and then start or do you just instantly turn the key?

Check your clutch switch...I had the same problem a couple years ago. When it wouldn't start, I'd press and release the clutch pedal a few times, and it'd start right up.

Durlast Gold comes with a 8 year warrenty, 3 free replacement. Alot of times the batteries we carry at autozone sit for months at the warehouse before they are shipped out to the stores. Even the optima batteries we sell sometimes go bad quickly just from sitting for so long. Your best bet is to go ahead and go back and have them test it. If anything just say here's what happend... i bought this a week ago and now it's having trouble starting.

They should give you a new battery. Every once in a while we sells duds, that's what the warrenty is for.... also... for the duralast gold they have a free jump start program anywhere in the U.S. ask for the card, there will be a number on there.. as long as you own a duralast gold... Someone will jump you for free.
