your problem is in teh lock.. did you try turning it the other way...?

I haven't tried turning it the other way.Right now I don't have working struts so when I get the struts I'll try to isolate the problem.

I'm pretty sure that lock is broken as you mention.

I've got both hatch opening mechanisms('00 & '95) and it definitely sounds like you have a lock problem because i can use one hand to open up the hatch on both cars. On the '95, I insert the key and unlock the hatch, then I take my key out and open it up with the same hand(my other hand is usually carrying something, i've done this test before to note the difference from the newer integra). On the 2000, i just unlock it with my remote, slide the lever and the hatch opens up easily.

You should be able to unlock it, take the key out, then open it up.

Thanks for the post. This was the information I was looking for. Now I realize that I have a problem with my locking mechanism for sure.

For some reason when I turn the key I hear the mechanism working but when I take out the key I can't lift the hatch up because something is holding it there. I can only lift the hatch about one inch. When I turn the key clockwise to the end of the turn. I must hold it there and then I can use my other hand to release the hatch from the Secondary lock.

Does anybody have any idea's of how i can get about fixing my problem?

I wish my hatch would work so easily like your car jesusublime99.

I have a black 99 Integrea SE that looks like your picture.
