Oil Pan Gasket
I have a 96 GSr that needs Oil Pan Gasket Replaced. Do I need a lubricant that needs to be applied to the pan or gasket? Also do you think I can get around the Exhaust downpipe or will I have to disconnect the header? Because I was planning on going around it, but I havent taken a look if thats even possible.
Isnt The Once Piece Better For Flow? The Amount Of Times Id Have To Change My Oil Pan Gasket And The Amount Of Times I Drive I Think Id Rather Have The 1 Piece. Which I Used To Until Turbo Came Along. You Might Be Able To Do It. What I Would Do Is Lossen The Bolts On Top The Header Then Take It Off The Cat And Let It Hang To Give You Some Room. Im Sure Its Not Bad. Even Still, Take The Header Off But Let It Hang, You Dont Have To Take It Out Of The Car, Just Need A Bit Of Room
You won't be able to get the gasket on properly if you don't pull the header out of the way and possibly even the lower splashguard. I just remember how easy it was to put it on when the car was apart for the turbo install compared to when I had to drop the downpipe and struggle with getting the gasket on correctly for 30 minutes.
You will also have to remove the flywheel cover and engine stiffeners to access all the bolts/nuts.

Thanks, for all the help by the way! This site is actually useful and worth it, I didnt think I would get any responses. lol

Have you checked the bolts and made sure they are not just loose? I went and bought the gasket and just got under the car to take a look just to see how it would be and when checking the bolts they were about hand tight. I went all the way around and tightened them back up and the leak went away. If you pay someone it will run about 175-250.
