b18c1 (gsr) b18c5 (type-r) b18b1 (LS/GS/RS)... each have their own qualities that makes them good... and cons that make them bad... since u say u wanna turbo... i'd say a newer b18b1

hmotorsonline.com is a good place to start getting a rough cost estimate

But Vtec has higher compression lower is better for boost. If you got a B20 swap and used the intake manifold and such from a teg. You'd have more horsepower, torque, and displacement.

it all just depends on tuning h:

no matter the engine, its all in the tuning

for the best results, u could build the lower end of a b20 then ls/vtec then boost. MAKE SURE you tune it so u dont screw it up

true, but you have to remember that something like an LS-Vtec is not one of the "weekend jobs" that you can just kinda slap together... so it makes it very very difficult for people to attempt... and yes "theres no replacement for displacement" but also u can rev higher w/ a GSR or LS than you can with a CRV (b20)... and personally i think b20 swaps are junk... .2L makes a minimal difference once u break the 200hp range
