Default help installing indiglo gauges

Ok well I've been dealing with this problem for about a month now not knowing what to do with these gauges here. Well the first time i got my gauges and took it all outta the box to see what all came with it. There's the gauges and then theres the little power inverter thing where all the wires are coming out of or are running to. Well first off i couldn't find where to hook up my power wire to and finally when i found out a power wire i could hook them up to i realized these gauges were faulty by testing them with my battery running my car. So i sent back the first little inverter thing that had been faulty. They send me out a second one. So i first test this one from my batter running my car just to be sure these ones work. And they light up fine. So i hook everything up and connect the power wire to the red/black wire running to the dimmer dial on the right side of the stearing wheel. Well i put everything back in place and turned on the lights to see sucess. So i go out for a drive and after about 15 minutes the lighting goes to about 10%lit. Then i start to smell like a burning wire smell and then my guages just go black. So there goes number 2 inverter. I call them back up and tell them that they need to send me another one and tell me whats going wrong. They tell me i need to get them professionally installed somewhere. Well no one around here professionally installs gauges and even if they did i don't know what they would do different then what i'm doing. I'm simply taking the power wire running from the inverter and running it to a wire that has power running to it like the one running to the dimmer switch. So now i have my third inverter and i've yet to install it because i don't want to break this one. Its been about a month and i've just been driving with no lit gauges at night. So what i'm asking here is what am i possibly doing wrong?? Do i need to hook up the power wire to a different wire?? I've heard something about hooking it up to an active fuse in my fuse box?? I've also heard something about alarms burning out the inverters and i do have an alarm... So someone please gimme something to work with because i'm tired of not having these things not work.... Sorry for the length of this all but i figured it'd be easier to understand if i described it all in detail and thanks for any help anyone can give to me..

that is like the hardest thing to read. use paragraphs for something that long...

i dont think you are doing anything wrong...tohse indiglo gauges are just trouble to me. ive had them before...actually i had 3 sets....all burnt out.

i cant tell you the problem, but just wanted to let you know...

its really as simple as getting a constant 12+ and the dimmer and ground wire.

Sorry about the not using paragraphs I'll remember to next time, hopefully I don't have to write anything that long again on here.

So anyways your saying I should just hook it up like I did the second time. Just hook it up to the power wire (Red/Black wire) running to the dimmer switch and hope that it doesn't burn out on me again?? My only worry is what happens if this one burns out too??? Its been a month since I got the the last inverter and I know they aren't going to send me another one. My only worry is where do I get another inverter if this one burns out on me??
