The Vortech and any other type of centrifugal supercharger isn't a good idea on our motors. The powerband will be so peaky and narrow, as well as having the worst of both worlds: parasitic losses and lag.

The numbers coming out of the centrifugal supercharged motors are nice, but when you see how peaky the curves are, it really doesn't make sense for a daily driver that sees little in the upper RPMs.

I don't know very much about forced induction. Vortech is just the only other brand I can think of that makes sc's for our cars.

edit: nvm it is, i was at their site and saw this graph

im guessing the line that starts from the bottom is the supercharged b18, but y is it so low compared to a stock b18? i thought superchargers helped in the low end...
It looks like it helped out plenty in the low end to me.

The question is, is a 30.8hp and 20.7tq gain worth the money spent for this supercharger kit. I say no! The torque starts taking a dive at around 5200rpms in this setup. Why the owner chose a 2 inch collector header and a 2.36 exhaust setup is beyond my comprehension. No wait, why the owner choose to supercharge a 4cyl Honda LS motor is beyond my comprehension.

I'm personally not into forced induction at all. If I wanted a FI car I wouldn't have purchased an Acura. In conclusion, if you want to make some real power, go turbo or go home. To the thread starter, the Greddy (carb legal) turbo kit is the way to go in my opinion. From what I understand these kits are coming out with better engine management. If you were to ditch the AC and go with a bigger downpipe and exhaust setup you would spank supercharged four cylinders all day, every day.

Here's a Greddy turbo and intercooler setup on an LS. Looks like nice gains from the properly sized exhaust setup. (Yes I know the thread starter has a GSR)

another centrifugal supercharger is the ProCharger. This company has been supercharging domestics for years and now are trying to get into the import market.

Yes they do.

You might as well because the installation of a 3 inch down pipe usually leads to the removal of the AC compressor (thus making the turbo kit w/3' downpipe rice because you have to remove the AC which is rice). I guess you don't lose the "street car" image when you install a aftermarket supercharger/turbocharger, which is what this thread is about. You're overusing the term rice (I know this website makes you do it, you can't help it) and it sounds pretty corny. I haven't had the power steering in my daily driven teg for over a year, I prefer it that way, oh no I'm a ricer. Who the hell cares about AC and their girlfriend when their trying to build a vehicle for power.

In other words nobody here cares about your 95 firebird. This is an Integra forum.

:squint: If people are going to start resorting to insults as a means of furthering their argument, I'm going to:

a - Delete the offending posts outright.
b - Start issuing warnings and/or bans as appropriate.

For once, I'd like to see a technical topic be debated maturely.

Stay on topic and keep the personal attacks out of this forum. PERIOD.

The Procharger kit looks pretty sweet. My only prob with blowers on these 4 cyl's is that the charger itself takes so much power just to spin.

"He started it." I was just merely stating an opinion of what "rice" is to me. I have provided some good input to this thread. Yes... I linked some video clips of my 'Bird with a Procharger... only to show the guys that liked the sound of a supercharger.

I don't think I was out of line by any means... I don't believe that you were reffering to me anyway. More often than not, when people hear an opinion or an idea that contradicts their thinking, they take exception to it, and lash out. In this case, words were put in my mouth and he "quoted" me on 2 seperate post trying to make them seem as one.

I think I have a decent amout of knowledge about this topic. I'm no pro, I'm no expert... but I have built a car that makes 770 rwhp that I can drive on the expressway, or go grocery shopping with. All while keeping the AC, power steering, cruise control, and full interior.

I'm done...

Yeah, TheOtherDave™ is right. We should have an entire forum without any humor, or he's gonna push the God button and make us all go away from his precious on-topic forum.

Heaven forbid we find a little fun outside the basement.
