throwing code for ECT sensor
I checked my CEL codes the other day, and now it looks like i am throwing a code 6 ECT engine coolant temperature sensor. Can anyone give me some more info on this? Where is the sensor located? How much does it cost to replace? And how vital is it to my car running properly? Thanks again.
it is a very small sensor located somewhere on top of the engine(usually)-off hand im not quite sure where but it should be very easy to change-its usally a one wire connector and its screwd in-just unscrew and replace-if ur throwing this code it will not give u a true reading on ur temp gauge which means if ur overheating u wont know it-oh by the way-how do u pull codes?

The ECT sensor is part number 13 on the attached diagram.
Honda part #37870-PJ7-003 SENSOR ASSY, list price from Sunnyside Acura $27.23. Yes that's twenty seven dollars and twenty three cents for this genuine Honda part. Give your local dealer a call to see how much they would charge for this sensor.

Here's some info about this check engine light. There are two diagnostic trouble codes for MIL/code 6 (P0117 and P0118).
Possible causes:
ECT sensor deterioration
Malfunction in the thermostat and the cooling system
P0117- indicates ECT circuit low input (high temperature) and a possible short in the ECT sensor circuit.
P0118- indicates ECT circuit high input and a possible open in the ECT sensor circuit.

The image was taken from Sunnyside Acura, if that's what you're refering to. I'm sure they wouldn't mind seeing that their link was included in my post. The rest was hand typed and I'd like to see where you think it was copied from.
Read my reply postwhore and you will realize that your reply doesn't even come close. You couldn't post a good reply if your life depended on it.
Run your mouth! :blah:
It's on the passenger side of the head, has a small plug from the engine harness going into it...easily removed and replaced. I'd maybe put a little teflon tape/paste on it just to make sure it seals properly when you put the new one in.

Ok, I will check it out. But it seems to me from killuminati's post that this code could also be thrown from having a malfunction in the thermostat or cooling system? Is that correct? Because my thermostat has been needed to be replaced for a while now but its hard to get to because the housing bolts are stripped. It just seems strange that I am just now getting this code...
