i just got injen's 2 piece cold air, after you break it in, it sounds so sweet when you hit 6000 rpms, and the shop i bought it at said about a 10 hp boost, it was $230 w/ out installation.

Any comment on how much sound diff. an intake will make? I DON'T want to be any louder, actually - just FASTER.
Is a louder engine simply *unavoidable* w/ an intake on there?

 

Noise level depends. Most intakes (cold-air or short-ram) will make your car noticeably louder. My ice-box made a significant sound difference only at 6000+ rpms, but it's also one of the more expensive units out there

My AEM CAI will be for sale sometime next week when I pull it off my 98 ITR. I believe it works for LS's as well, or any other with a ITR/Skunk intake manifold.
