Default AEM V2 Intake vs. AEM Cold Air Intake???..

Is the V2 really worth it? I just bought a 99 Base Prelude. I have seen the dyno Gain on a 97 dx that was 15hp or something by AEM.

But is that really true?

Does anyone have it?

thats complete BS! Don't trust AEM's dyno charts. You will NOT get 15WHP out of just an intake, all else remaining equal. I would suggest a Cold Air Intake, doesn't even have to be AEM, any generic CAI should be about the same performance wise as the AEM IMO. The V2 is a short ram, and makes 15WHP? Think about that... its sucking in HOT air, and its producing such an insane amount of HP, thats retarded. I/H/E and CAI producing 15WHP altogether is considered good gains, so don't expect NEARLY that much w/ just an INTAKE... I think like 2-5WHP is possible.

It sounds like BS to me too.

But for the quality of the hardware and appearance AEM can't be beat. IMO. I always go with AEM Cold air intakes. The clamps/mounts/etc. always hold up. I have seen some of my friends stuff fall apart over time and leak air.

But I thought the AEM V2 was a cold air intake that was just larger diameter of tubing?

the v2 is not really worth the money i'd say wait untill the "newness" of it goes away it is better because it does have a better flow of air but not unless ur uber picky it wouldnt matter between the normal cai and the v2

i bought a ractive CAI for my acura like 4 years ago, regularly cleaned the filter, and it still works good as new, occasionally the hose clamp styled clamps loosen a bit, but it takes 1 minute to retighten 4 clamps

EDIT: boguht it for 100 bucks, and it was brand new, colored all open filter, looking at other filter styles i think the ractive has the best ability to pull in air because on the front side theres another side of the filter as to where others are just standard cone filter with the chrome tops. well some are.. its been a while since ive bought one as u can tell.

Default AEM V2 CIA vs. AEM CIA

I think that the CIA adds a few horses, but not as many as 15. You also have to think about the dyno run conditions. Was it on a chilly night, or hot afternoon? They probably tested it on a reasonably cool day/night to get those results that they could advertise nationwide.

i got a aem cai and i would buy the v2 if i was doing it again same performance as the cold air but in a short ram. i doubt the v2 creates anymore horsepower but my friend has one and 1. it sounds hella nasty, i love it. 2. gives good gains like a cai. 3. its a shortram no chance of hydro lock plus the dark silver color looks great under any engine bay.
