Default How Much for an AEM Intake???

I'm thinking about investing in an intake. I know there are various opinions, but it looks like AEM is a solid brand. So let's just say that's what I'm looking for. I have 3 ques.

How much did you all pay for your intakes??? Did anyone get one off of EBAY? Looks like I could get a deal there....

Also, how much HP gain did you all see when u put your intakes on? What can I expect - since it'll be the first mod for my teg?

Last, how much sound diff. will an intake make? I don't want to be any louder, actually - just faster. Is a louder engine just unavoidable w/ an intake on there?

Short ram - filter element sits in engine bay and sucks up air from inside the engine bay

cold-air - filter element sits near turn signal lens (or somewhere equivalent) and sucks up cool outside air from underneath the car

Short ram - power gain varies; you actually LOSE power if your engine is running extremely hot

cold-air - lots of debate over the merits of this but IMO the best bolt-on mod you can do if you're not going to boost or build up the engine. Hydrolock is an issue but that's also been debated numerous times.

Hope that helped a little

ps. Check www.diabloautosports.com, they have pretty competitive prices

I got a AEM Cold Air for $135... also you might want to get a bypass valve... I got that dfor $45, so you are looking at about $180 for both

Not all short Rams look the same either. In 94-01 Tegs I get cold air because the short ram is not far enough away from the motor but in my 1990-93 I got the short ram for the fact that the only thing a cold air system does is put the filter down 6 inches where it wont make a difference and I could hydrolock.
