Default i just got an idea

my B18B1 in my LS has about 160k on it, i originally wanted to just swap in another lower mileage LS motor in it and turbo it with low boost. now im thinking about getting B20 instead of the B18B1. so what do you guys think is the better motor to go with. i dont want a vtec motor so the GSRs are out of the question and LS/CR/vtec is out also. how would the B20 swap into the teg? would there be any clearence issues or anything? i heard they were the same block and head but just different internals. the B20 is just about the same price as the LS motor so i just want to know what the better value would be. thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend boosting the B20 since the cylinder sleeves are noticably thinner than the B18.

Either rebuild your current B18 or swap in a lower mileage B18 since the torque difference will be made up easily with forced induction.

i had a huge thread on turbo options in the engine tech forum... we discussed alot of this stuff and some things you could do to rectify it... i'm currently looking for a beat up hatch/crx to amke into a race day only car.

Nah! It's not worth the strees you will have to deal with. Just get the B18 and boost away.

The block guard won't solve the thin cylinder wall problem. If you go B20 + boost, you should definitely consider sleeving if you want it to last.
