That is the most ignorant thing ever. The speed limit isn't a guideline, it is the maximum speed allowed on a given road. Any excess of the speed limit is illegal and ticketable even if cars are zooming past you at 20 miles per hour faster.

The flow of traffic story is bullshit and any cop will just laugh at you when you tell them and continue writing the ticket.

i think he may have been referring to the basic rule law, like the one here in oregon. the speed limit IS a guideline here and you must drive at a speed that is "reasonable and prudent with due regard to the following:

(a) The traffic.
(b) The surface and width of the highway.
(c) The hazard at intersections.
(d) Weather.
(e) Visibility.
(f) Any other conditions then existing."

how do i know this? just got a 72mph citation in a 55 zone and i'm trying to fight it in court.

this law, of course, does not cover smoky burnouts at the intersection.

and BTW, 80mph, even in a 70mph zone, is a little extreme. good luck fighting that one in court

omg...this has turned into a pissing contest....

EVERYONE here was new to the this board at one time or another. Just because someone is new doesn't give the oldtimers the right to be disrespectful. Comments like "join the rest of the noobs" serve no purpose. It simply invites an us vs them mentality that truly has no place here.

I have been racing hondas for nearly 10 years, on the street, SCCA Auto X, even had a car that ran in the 2nd import nationals. I have tons of experience, but I don't think I am any better than anyone here.

A good quote I got from my kickboxing instructor years ago...

"Those that truly have skill have nothing to prove"

The comment about you joining the rest of the newbs was about you not going with the TOS. Your thread is a violation of the TOS...that's why everybody made a "pissing contest" out of it.
