Default Just for fun...

Okay, I went into this knowing I would lose... but damnit, I saw this car and just HAD to do it....

I was out, getting some OJ, just a quik drive to the local 7-11. The ride there is uneventful, get my OJ and I am off. As I stop at a red light, up pulls this Ford A/C Cobra Mk IV. She is blue with white racing stripes, and shaking the ground with the roar of her motor. Now, let it be known, I have alot of respect for this car however the driver had seen my license plate frame that reads "Now Serving Smoked Pony". So he is totally staring at me. He revs, the ground shakes....I am thinking to myself..."Self..you gotta atleast TRY". So, I start getting my RPM's up for launch, get them stable at 4500. The light goes green, all you hear is the roar of both our engines and off we go. I ripped him on the launch by 1/2 car length. We were neck and neck until he hit 3rd gear, which sent up a puff of grey tire smoke and hewas GONE...not slowly...JUST GONE...like whodini transported him away. We caught up at the next light, I asxked him to pull into the parking lot. We ended up talking for about a half hour about cars. I explained that I just had to do it...I may have lost, but I lost to an original AC Cobra.

My bad, but I think it's also a great example of the positive car culture, I mean, here we have an older hot rodder (about 50 or so) and a import hot rodder half his age finding common ground through automobiles and their love of them...Call it what you want to but it's EXACTLY the kind of thing that strengthens our bonds as car enthusiasts and is a great example of unity.

Anyone who is a hot rodder, be them import or domestic has done something like this at one time or another, if you say you haven't, you are lying. I do not condone illegal runs in any way, shape or form. However, I also think that things happen, and an opportunity to go against an A/C cobra is one of those things that just happen. My integra has been against one, to me, its like a once in a lifetime experience, thats the whole reason I did it.

My car, right now is running high 13's.

I have some tuning time to spend, a throttle body to add, wring my vtec controller...but I should be running low 13's or high 12's after I am done on the dyno.

It wasn't a mustang, it was an AC Cobra, 427 CI V8.
