ok guys......i REALLY need your help on this.........about a month ago, I noticed that my fuel guage on my Integra was not reading correctly. I let the needle go past the E before I filled it up....went to fill it up and it only accepted 8 gallons (its a 9 gallon tank) and when i got back in the car it would only go up to the 3/4 mark..... I really need to get this fixed. I'm in the Air Force and stationed now at Great Falls Montana, so yeah its important as hell to know when my fuel is gettin low.

Any ideas what it could be??? suggestions?? please help!

hey guys, any idea about why my gas light doesn't come on when I hit E (and this is TOTALLY seperate from my other post....this has been this way since I bought it)? I did check the bulb and its good.

 

I have the same problem. I have seen my light come on before, a couple months ago but never again have I seen it. Also, I have been told that it should come on when you have used 10 gallons, but mine came on at like 11.something. Weird...

 

If the bulb is good, then the fuel level sender is either dead... or the connection between the instrument panel light and sender is broken.

If the gauge is still accurate, I wouldn't be concerned with the loss of a "idiot" light. h:

 

Well, it sounds like the fuel level sender unit is dead...since the light isn't coming on and the gauge is not reading accurately.

What year is your Integra?


And an FYI:
The smallest Integra tank was the 90-93, at about 12.9 gallons.
For the 94-2001 Integra, the tank is listed by Honda at 13.2 gallons.
The "idiot" light comes on when roughly 3.5 gallons are left.

 

NOTE: I've merged the two threads because the instrument panel light relies upon the fuel level sender unit to "tell" it [the light] to turn on.

its a 98 so yeah i know its about 13.2 and yes UR A GENIOUS! lol

so u think the fuel level sender unit is dead> cuz the gas guage used to be accurate and now is not but that bulb has never come on?

 

i'm not sure i understand. if you ran your 13.2 gallon tank near empty, filled it up to 8 gallons, it would correctly read to about 3/4ths.. so what's wrong?

when you say you couldn't put more than 8 gallons in, did it spill over, or did you stop fueling once you hit the first click?
