How much power can I/H/E generate on the LS B18B1?
my apologies to the topic starter.
But I have a quick question for Weston - how much did the Type-R catback cost you and where did you find it.
as for the topic, i/h/e is not a bad descision or pointless to do on an LS motor, it's not going to throw out massively high numbers but it will outperform stock noticably if you do your homework. Just don't spend a whole lot of money on the setup, it's not going to be turbo obviously but I think your friend will be happy with the results.

I/H/E dont' do ****.
There was a huge ass debate about this in this forum a long time ago.
And for those guys who say they got a lot of hp out of it. Show me a dynograph for one thing. In the previous that they had tons of dynographs. THe hp gains were not worth the cost of I/H/E. You graph may say you got more hp, but that' be peak, which maybe lasted for a 100 rpm, but then if you looked on the graph, you could see you'd lose power else where on the graph.
Point in short. I/h/E is not worth it.
If I were I'd focus a lot on suspension, and tires, and rims. That's give you a significant change on how your car behaves, and as your first mods, it's nice to notice a difference in your car.
I have and intake and an exhaust, but not for power. All looks. After you get your suspension setup, get one of these, but I'm tellin' you, the cost isn't worth the expense.

Bumnah is a hater, dont sweat his "words of wisdom"...you could show him dyno's all day long and it wont make a difference. Just nod and smile!
People do overhype the whole bolt-on thing, but they do make a difference, especially after you get into more serious modifications. Never mind the fact its a pretty good simple foundation for learning about your car in terms of the parts, how to do the work, and how things react with each other.
I'd say on a stock B18B, a decent I/H/E setup would give you 8-10whp. Not much at all. Would the money be better invested towards a turbo kit? IMO, yes, but not everyone is looking for that sort of power.

Thanks dubster, for some reason I was thinking the GS-R was B18C3
Anyone have a response for me?

last time i checked, as soon as you put on a turbo it does not "fuck up your engine." that would be due to poor tuning.
No WAY would a custom turbo kit be as much as I/H/E.
Youre building one...you'll see how much of a pain in the ass it really is...its definitely not as easy as you think! There are tons of parts you'll need just to get a competent kit even fathomable to install. Then another bunch of parts you'll need to make it fit.
Then another bunch of sh*t you'll need to do to make it run. Then a whole lotta stuff to make it run with good power reliably.
Its nowhere in the same ballpark of a comparison.
