Lsvtec Vs Type R
Honestly, if this was a road course car, i would go with a Type R... its more costly but ive driven type Rs and those engines are excellent on the track. In a straight line...there eh.... yea....
If you were to go all out drag race, i would suggest a CR/vtec setup. There is the typical B20 block with B16 head, but recently however, ive messed with the B18C GSR head and the tad bit higher compression is nice when producing a tad bit more power....
everything else i was going to say has been mentioned so....

If you wanna turbo a motor I would get an LS/VTEC and swap the pistons, and rods and there you go. Slap on a Ls tranny if you like the long gears and slight lag from turbo. Or you can get a GSR tranny which will give you the best of both words and you will have mid gear ratio.
If you plan on going N/A I would also get LS/VTEC but get some High comprestion pistons and some beefy rods and you'll be good then get either the pricey Type R tranny they have the shortest gears ever which is good for n/a setups. and they have LSD. Or you can just get a B16 tranny which is basicaly a type r tranny without the lsd. Ehhh goodluck.
LS/VTEC for n/a setup I would get and not touch it after that till Im ready to dump crazy cash would be what I am doing now.
Type R head with b16 cams
Ls block
B16 pistons
GSR oil pump
GSR water pump
GSR tranny
ACT 6puck no springs clutch.
And your good to go.

y b16 pistons, oh and for the guy who is doin the ls/vtec if your gonna run boost like i intend to after i put a itr head on mine have the ppl install oil squirters on the block to help keep the temp down, and for the turbo size 8lbs on a small turbo is different than 8lbs on a large one it all depends on the way you drive, personaly i enjoy a nice chunk of lag and then the brute force kicks in and almost breaks my neck but thats me. good luck on build
Thanks guys,
I'll let you know how this shit goes... It'll be awhile though working two jobs with no days of doesn't quite give me the opportunity to do this shit at the moment. Time to buy a new ls block and build away...... or a b20... b20 seems tempting
