I know its possible to paint over it. I don't know if you need any special type of paint or anything.

Why would you paint over it? It won't reduce weight any more than taking a large shit will. The point of carbon fiber hoods is more form than function, so why would you paint over it if it is there for aesthetic purposes only?

Yes you can paint over it and it doesn't take any special paint. Just regular Auto Paint.

i think you might need to sand it with some high grit sand paper, but i have no clue. i would suggest painting over carbon fiber because of theft purposes. if someone sees that you have a CF hood, they would automatically think you have something good. trust me, if my civic didnt have the CF hood on it, it would have lessened the chances of it getting stolen from me and it would have looked like any other civic.

If you want a lightweight hood but don't want to go cf can't you just cut all of the support bumps/bars from it? It would reduce alot of weigh, but not be as sturdy, and still keep the stock look.
