VTEC /= turbo

as soon as you hit 4400, you won't get thrown into your seat.

I know! You'll get thrown out of your car. One day I was riding around in my friends 99 GS-R and I hit VTEC in 2nd gear and by 7K RPM my seat had unbolted from the car and myself and the seat flew out of the rear hatch.

God, I love VTEC.

vtec isn't overrated it's just "functionally cool." lower duration cams produce peak hp at a lower revs but the power drops off sooner, higher duration cams produce peak hp at higher revs. vtec is the better of both worlds. You without vtec may get off the line a little quicker but only to get passed quite soon (sometimes even before vtec kicks in). It also helps to let the other guy know you intend to race him (this could be why you get off the line quicker).
