Thank you for the constructive answer Shmoo, as usual... who needs to frigging research this shit when i've got all you frigging smart-ass people to hook a brutha up?
That's good to know because I would like to get a turbo with a fmic (that right? lol) in the future, but the engine already has like 120k on it, so that not till way down the road when that engine dies, and I drop a better one into it... what is the engine to be droppin' into a GS-R anyways? Just an engine out of a Type-R? Or???
p.s. I didn't think it seemed much rice either... no more 'rice' than clear corner lights or tinted tails.... speaking of which, I realized that whoever had the car before I did must've put the corner lights on it, becuase ALL stockers are like overly yellow, right? And mine are normal white....

Keep the GSR engine. It is the most bang for the buck you will find that fits into a DC2 chassis. A Type R engine is one of the worst choices for turbocharging because of the high compression. And that kind of mileage doesn't matter: I am boosting 8 psi on my stock motor with 133,000mi. As long as the compression and leakdown numbers are good, go for it. If not, rebuild that shit. You should be doing some major research about turbocharging because there is a lot more to them than what meets the eye.
Yeah, my GSR has amber corners, so the previous owner replaced them. What a shame....

Alright.. the problem is, is that I live in Maine, where just about any job I have is a 45minute drive away... not complaining because I love driving, but you have to rely on your car, y'know? And from what i've seen, it costs $900+ to have the turbo installed & tuned (from www.f1dyno.com , it's like 30min away..) I know that they're pretty much like attachable components.. but is it all bolt-on deal? Like... say I were to buy it, and then my engine dies, and like you said I have to rebuild (you mean get the same engine, or just keep replacing anything that goes wrong with the existing one?) Would it make it harder to do anything? Also, what are ALL of the pieces that should be considered when getting a turbo??
Here's what I THINK would be considered something I should do before/with turbo:
Turbo Itself (and dun you need a BOV, i see Greddy Type S everywhere)
Intercooler (FMIC?)
Suspension:Eibach Prokit & Koni's (might wanna better handle for the additional power)
Clutch (Need a new one soon anyways, suggestions? Exedy good or bad?)
Intercooler prolly a good idea.
Yeah... but anyways.. haha thanks for all your help thus far, Schmoo & Snoop in particular.. you both seem to Guru it up for me most the time, everyone else as well though, but you two = win
Thanks,
~B
P.s.
Dun worry, i'm not totally Useless, i'm searching around the site for info and stuff, but the direct answers are sometimes better for the learning process.

You should search for the exact components you need to build a turbo kit. There are several other things you didn't mention like oil lines, injectors, fuel management, manifold, wastegate (unless the turbo already has one built in), etc.
IMO, buy a complete kit unless you really know what you need/what will fit/don't need serious performance increases. Start with the suspension first and then down the road, if you have the money and passion, get the turbo. Just get educated and know what you are getting yourself into. Most novices think you can just bolt a turbo on and that's that. It requires lots of time, money, and dedication to turbo any car. Just keep that in mind.
About the clutch, if you want to upgrade, I have heard great things about the ACT HDSS. It would be a good upgrade to have for the turbo but the OEM one is fine as well if you don't feel like upgrading at this point in time.

Naturally... there's this guy down the road who's got kind of a home-run lil speed shop going on... I don't know if he's got knowledge of turbos and shit, but because it's like home oriented, can get a lil more personal, so I'm gonna go to him with my shit, and see if I can't help, and have him explain shit to me while we go about it.
As for the "complete kit." does the TDO5H-18G qualify as a "complete kit?"
thanks the info as usual! I'ma go back to searching around and reading more!
