You mean what's the difference?

96 Spec has 4x114 bolt pattern (Accord/Prelude) instead of the 5x114 bolt pattern of the DC2 ITR USDM and DC5, et al.

96 Spec has the USDM 4.40 axle ratio instead of the later JDM 4.78 axle ratio.

The JDM 96 Spec motor is identical to the JDM 98 Spec motor; however, there is evidence that the famous OEM JDM 4-1 header with 2.5" was only on 98 Spec.

There is probably a small difference in the rear calipers.

Is that the kind of thing you mean?

Tokyo, January 29, 1998 --- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that it has made improvements to the elegant, sporty Integra 3-door coupe, its 4-door hardtop cousin and the Integra SJ. As well as improved safety features, such as ABS fitted as standard, several refinements have been made to the interior and exterior styling of both vehicles. The Type R has also had its operating performance enhanced.

so im tryin to find out what exact spec the one i pm`d you about is(95 one)?

I just don't think there's any such thing as a 1995 Integra Type R.

Have they given you the chassis number?

No chassis no.
Its clearly stated on this list and ive seen others, and ive seen 95 type Rs:
http://www.superhonda.com/tech/honda_engine_codes.html
:edit:
Its the same with other honda models:
eg 92 to 95 can be got as 91 in japan
ek 96 to 98 can be got as 95 in japan

This is very common over here, obviously not there, ive owned 2ek 95s i still have 1, both jdm

I believe that it is only a 95 ITR because it was released in the later part of 95. However, the ITRs were for 96+. I don't see why you're giving so much shit to GK. This is observed in some makes in the US. For instance, my friend has a 92 Accord with the 93 body style. It just so happened that she bought it at the end of 92. Btw, the 96 JDM ITR did not come with the factory HIDs whereas the 98 JDM ITR did. =)

The chassis number will definitely allow us to verify your insistence that there is any such thing as a 1995 Integra Type R.

Until then, the extant qualified information is that the Honda Integra Type R began as a 1996 model year in JDM (as the four bolt design) and in 1997 model year in the USDM.

Honda Japan did not supply any homologation numbers to the FIA for a 1995 model year.

Production of the 96 Spec JDM ITR obviously started in 1995 but I have never seen a car produced so early in 1995 that it was actually titled in Japan as a 1995 model year. If there were 1995 MY ITR, I don't understand why the FIA wouldn't have homologation numbers for 1995, since they produced the ITR specifically for homologation.

Congratulations to the poster for owning a very rare beast if he does indeed have a 1995 model year ITR, and we all look forward to the chassis number and verification when he actually gets his hands on the car.

I finally went to this list. The problem with the superhonda.com list is that it has the B18C engine code listed for the SiR beginning in 1995. This is true. There was a JDM SiR in 1995.

The B18C engine code in JDM refers to engines put in both SiR and ITR, even though the motors were not the same spec. In order to ascertain whether a JDM motor is an ITR spec motor, one looks at other indicators, like the number stamped on the head.

In USDM, we made life easier for motor factors by having a B18C1 engine code for the GS-R and a B18C5 engine code for the ITR.

The year of registration doesn't really reflect the model year of the car.

Semantics.

The person from whom you're buying this car also has 98-Spec cars. Did you pick the 96-Spec car because of the price of the car, or are you interested in having the rarer car?
