As long as the PS rack remains lubbed it will be fine. The reason for the breather as opposed to a standard loop is that the fluid has a place to go as the piston in the rack moves from side to side.

Tom

So you just stuck a breather on each end of the rack where hoses used to be? You don't think a loop will work? I am pulling off probably this weekend, the rest of power steering stuff. Also what is the ratio on the manuel rack, and what rack will fit all I have found is power racks for integras.

A loop will work, however, since there is no place for the fluid to move as the piston moves from side to side you are also fighting the force of the fluid as you turn your steering wheel...the breather helps you turn a little easier.

I also have one breather, both lines off the rack are T'd off into one line that leads to the breather.

Do you leak fluid out of the breather?

I did at first because of the way I had to mount it. There was not enough clearance for the hood so I had to mount it at an angle which caused some pooling of the fluid in the breather that spilled when going around turns. After suctioning that fluid out with a turkey baster I have not had any more problems. Had I been able to mount the breather correctly I am certain there would be no spilling.

Why did you run the breather all the way up there and not just have it down by the rack itself? It seems to me that it would have been simplier to just T it off and then attach breather down by the rack less hose and less fluid to mess with.

Because working under the engine and getting to the rack was hard enough...there is not a lot of space back there. When I rebuild my engine I am going to redo the loop and mount the breather on the firewall since there will be room.

The problem is to do an LSVTEC the right way, it's not cheap.

I think I'm going to mount mine on the firewall.
