instead of replacing your ps, why dont you just get underdrive pulleys. they ad power on the same idea, just dont have to sacrafice your ps.

I have mine removed Brett and it is not all that hard to do...you just need muscles! :hehe:

Because after driving without PS for a year I found you do not need it at all. It saves weight too.

DVPGSR I am glad someone agrees It isn't hard and it saves some weight and its absolutely FREE HORSEPOWER! It really isn't that hard if you want to try it just take the belt off for like a week. Underdrive pulleys are good but completely getting rid of the source of power loss is even better. The only time it is somewhat hard is when you stopped, but its not really a problem, it's just free power so why not take advantage of it.

Tom, what did you do about the PS pump since it is vital to the gearbox?

There is no need for the PS pump. All I did was T off the holes in the rack and put a breather on. You can see the breather in the pic on the right...when I rebuild my motor and have more space to work I plan on putting it someplace different.

Oh it is crooked because the limited amount of piping dictated I put it there and it was hitting my hood.

I haven't removed the powe steering completely yet, but this is my plan. The steering rack needs lubrication so I am going to cut hoses an connect with some other pieces of hose and soem 90 degree fittings. As regards the gearbox I don't think it affects the gearbox only the steering rack.
