brakes.
ok, my brakes are nearing the end of their life. i can squeeze a couple thousand more miles out of them if i take it easy, so this isnt life or death.
I am going to get Cobalt GT-Sport pads with whatever i do, an possibly a set of Spec B's if i go to MSR.
the question is with rotors. i was originally just going to buy cheap ones from the local autozone, that way if i warp the crap out of them i can just replace them and not worry about lost material due to machining.
or should i get slotted or x-drilled rotors? is the difference worth the $75-100 more i would be paying?
one more: modify ITR front brakes to fit onto my GS-R.
what do you think?

It all really depends on what you need such heavy braking for. If it is a daily driver that doesn't see much or any track time, upgrading your brakes is pretty much a waste of money. If you do enough track time to warrant this, I would consider a big brake kit with upgraded calipers and larger rotors.
there's a lot of pple that'll say get the OEM brake rotors and that the slotted doesn't help. I have Brembo slotted + various brake pads, and I can say the slotted doesn't really help much, it was really dependent on the brake pads for me.

shmoo: the only reason i have yet to go to a track is because i am on stock brakes. they arent even enough for spirited drives through the countyside. bigger brakes, i.e., brembo and wilwood, would be nice, but i would be forced to buy larger wheels. not only is that out of the budget i have set for myself, but i also want to keep my gs-r wheels.
T7: so if you were to buy new rotors, would you buy OE blanks instead of the slotted?
Ska: my gs-r is at 97,xxx miles, and i am on original pads and rotors front and rear.

well, i have made my decision. due to the fact that winter is coming, so work is going to drop off, and i wont be making as much money, i am just going to buy rotors and pads. i'm gonna go with x-drilled rotors since i can get them for a good price, and Cobalt GT-Sport pads. I will let you guys know how the perfomance is after i get them put on and bed them.
next summer, when work picks up, i may go with 11" brakes. but untill then who knows.
thanks for the help guys!

Ah! Why didnt you talk to me first? Dont do the drilled rotors, they will crack and arent worth the price. I have powerslots right now but after that i plan on just getting autozone rotors. The point of drilled/slotted isnt to stop better its to keep temp down. On a hpde car you arent getting really hot enough to warrant such things. DONT GET SLOTTED!

which autozone rotors are you getting? they have some that are like $14 a piece! but they would probably warped if you looked at them wrong.
