THX heres how I downshift from 5th to 3rd push in clutch and while im moving shifter from thrid to 4th I hit the gas to where I htink the RPMs would be if I would just normally downshift. After i hit the gas an dget it in 4th I let off lcutch hit gas like normal. Downshift was very smooth then do the same from 4th to 3rd. now I have never went directly from5th to 3rd cause you would have to rev it alot higher I find it just as easy to go from 5 4 3. If you ask me the whole double clutch deal would take to long. theres no need to let the pedal out while in neutral to rev it upand yes stright cut gears like in alot older trucks do not use synchros and that is the only time you really need a true double clutch downshift but for our cars rev match works fine without damage

double clutching puts less stress on your syncros. So yes it helps you out.

ok if you can down shift without grinding then you are fine and dont need all of that double clutch shiznit and if you rev match correctly it is quicker smoother less complicated more efficient and easier and if your no hurting your tranny then why not just rev match

he said it right there and Bonzo rev matching puts just as much strees on your tranny as double cluthcing. One just takes longer

Ok, so what I have gathered from rooster is that if i want to downshift from 5th to 3rd, i just push the clutch in, bring it from 5th to 3rd and pop the clutch? And that's better than double clutching or revmatching? That puts less or equal amounts of stress on the synchros? Wow, I must be doing it all wrong. I should have my neck snapped more often

Thanks for a clarification thx... flick the accelerator, then shift??? Still don't get that one, can you clarify rooster?

ok you smart @$$ if you go from 5th to third then you need to learn to rev match well because it is a bigger gap in between the rpm's that you have to fill and if yopu dont then its gonna be rough but if you do so correctly you can even catch it while the rps are goin up and get even more power from the mementum but anyhow do it how you wanna i am tired of all of these people being so anal about so many very simple things
