Default Need Help and input

right now in my 99 Ex coupe im running a JDM Sir-g with I/H/E, FPR and VAFC2. With that set up alone and STOCK everything else the car runs 14.6s and 14.7s @94MPH. My goal for the car is just to get it into the 13s period without going wild with the motor being that its a daily driven car. I was told that if i install a CTR intake cam, skunk2 manifold and cam gears and tune everything that it will be possible for me to run 13s. Im still running a stock clutch and flywheel in which i wil eventually change. Do you all think 13s is possible?. The reason why i would consider going with this set up is because i know that with skunk cams i will not get their full potential without raising compression which is somthing that I am not ready to do right now.

If you're committed fully to an Naturally Aspirated build, and are fiscally secure enough to make the investment...then I'd go ahead and do with the CTR cams. Ultimately, you'll want to upgrade to a stronger clutch and lighter flywheel, perhaps in conjuction with an increase in compression. But in the interim, the CTR cams, cam gears & Intake Manifold should get you knocking on the door of the 13s.

My only concern is loss in mid -range torque with the Skunk2 Manifold..since it emulates the ITR manifold. Also, is your FPR set at stock pressure? Given your current setup...I wonder if it's truly necessary?

Also, I'd usually move this off to our Hybrid Forum...but I'll let it linger here for a bit. h:
You may want to give the Hybrid Forum a look-over.

I wouldnt think that I would lose any power since im installing the cams with the manifold or before them. Are u talking about the FPR being necessary?

Yes, I question the need for the FPR at your current power level. I wouldn't bother replacing it - unless for some crazy reason fuel pressure is below factory spec. [I've seen it happen, so you may want to check fuel pressure to be sure.]

Secondly, let me clarify my point about the Skunk2 Intake manifold....given what I've read and seen, the mods you're considering will produce gains at higher RPM.

Assuming that VTEC engagement and cam profiles remain equal.. I am concerned that the elimination of the "secondary" intake butterflies will cause a loss in mid-range torque due to lower port velocity from 4000 rpm to about 6000 rpm. That said, the free-flowing Skunk2 manifold will help you with high-rpm cylinder filling and produce gains in the top-end (6000 to redline).

All I am saying is...while you'll clearly make more peak power with these planned mods, the powerband will be shifting to the right as well, with more power at high RPM.

Engine tech board perhaps? ( https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/f...splay.php?f=33 )

Man, I'm such a spoil sport, but come on man, it's the Integra board.
Thork, I don't understand why you're so concerned about this thread, particularly when you've yet to make a meaningful contribution. Furthermore, if all you're going to do is try and tell others (namely me) how to do their jobs, then you and I are going to have a problem. :a:

1) I'm making an exception -in this case- because the Engine Tech Forum moves very slowly.

2) The modifications the Orignal Poster is considering could just as easily apply to any one of the GSR owners in this forum. So there is sufficient relevance to satisfy me. And not to pull rank, but the decision is mine to make.

3) Relax. I'm on top of the situation and above all, it's our call.
If the OP was asking about how to perform a GSR swap, the thread would have been moved a long time ago.

So again relax a bit...Enjoy your time in the Integra forum.

I apologize, I just noticed that there were the same number of users browsing the Integra boards as were on the Engine Tech boards at the time.

Yes, I can see the same relevance that you do.

I stand reprimanded and utterly corrected.

Nobody in the office to tell what to do, everyone's gone for the day and I guess I felt the need to lash out at somebody.

I do apologize, and will leave the moderation to the moderators h: h:
