I would say Red Line or Royal Purple, but those are synthetic oils....I dont know if synthetic would be good for your car. As far as conventional goes I would say Mobile 1 or Castrol, as to how much your car takes, im guessing here but 3 quarts sounds about right.

I run Mobil 1 synthetic, 5W-30. I believe you would take about 4.5 quarts, can't remember if they were Bseries motors in the old school tegs

just use any old 5w-30 oil, all oil is the same if they have the same api rating, unless its synthetic
you should try valvoline max-life
my 2 cents

has anybody had any problems with valvoline max-life? I was debating on whether using that, or Castrol high-mileage oil.

There isn't a "best" oil for you to use. There are a lot of factors to consider, such as geographical location, oil change intervals, mileage on engine, driving style, etc.

If you're going to doing 3K mile OCI's then most oils out there will suffice. I'm using Chevron Supreme 10W-30 dino on my LS with fantastic results. My UOA(used oil analysis) showed good wear and additive #'s.

Also, don't forget to use a quality brand oil filter....like Hastings or Mobil 1.

And FRAM = CRAP. True story.

with that many miles, ive always been told not to switch to synthetics. also, once you stoart using synthetic you always have to.

but royal purple and red line are good oils. also, lucas makes an oil addative that works very well for stopping breakdown of oil at very high temps.

Most oil is just oil as long as it is changed as frequently as it needs to be changed with the mileage on your car. Same goes with oil filters. Buy an STP or something. No need to spend $11 on a K&N one. Trust me...they don't do shit for how much you are paying.
