i use mobil 1 syn 10w-30 for my gsr in summer, 5w-30 syn in winter.

that "once you use synthetic you can't go back!" urban legend needs to DIE! the only reason switching back and forth isn't good is because the synthetic is thinner, so it'll eventually "push" the old oil through seals it created. then when going back to dino, it might leak for a while.

but going from syn -> dino is not a problem.

Honda has switched manufacturers recently. And the newer FRAM-built filters are - IMO- to be avoided at all cost.

I had an NTPOG article that reviewed the range of oil filters, and the SAE members who contributed to the site on which the article was posted were very critical of the cost cutting measures FRAM had taken... OTOH, the Hastings, Mobil 1 and K&N filters have been praised consistently, both in performance and in construction.

** I found the link to the older review on NTPOG. See my next post.***

Here we are.... http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/old_filters.shtml

After reading it, I switched to Hastings brand filters, and my oil is clearly filtered better than it ever was with FRAM filters.

I'll continue my search....but there's a start.
