1986-87 integra
thanks for welcoming me...
I've taken a look at the engine the other day and i think i might leave it standard for the time being, until i have to rebuild it. I'm planning to get as much HP as i can within a tight budget.
At the moment the removal of all the intake piping has had some increase. Not enough to brag about, although the induction noise has increase.. ALOT!
My main concern is now the PGM FI warning light keeps coming up. I've read that it could be the relay, but from my own observations i think it could be the oxygen sensor. The car has been fitted with a new fuel pump. maybe it was a dodgy install. Has the 1G integra been known to have a dodgy fuel pump?

Not to mention, a B-series can be easily swapped into a 1G now.

now i can't get my PGM FI light to light up.
anyway, i do have a code ... the light is 1. It flashes 1 red LED. Its not a quick flash... there is a slight moment before it flashes 1 again.
so i guess the code is 1
It seems like there is only 1 LED there.

hey one more thing you said you wanted to know about any mods you could do right?? Well your car is an older car like mine I drive a 1988 acura integra rs and there are not to many things you can do to upgrade anything it sucks
ok cool... now i looked at where it is... and why did they put it against the block? Is it possible to remove the O2 sensor without taking the exhaust manifold off?
Also do you know how much they are brand new or second hand?
Knowing a honda part i expect them to be expensive. Put it this way, i went to price a new windscreen water pump. I expected to pay something like $30au or $20us... anyway the dude told me it was $93au or $61us. anyway, i replaced it with a cheap toyota part. Costed me $15au.
I'm already planning to get the suspension in my car modified. But i was looking at modifying the cams. How much HP increase would you expect from ZC cams?

another really good mod for this beast is to pipe together yourself an exhaust system. Depending on the noise level that you are comfortable with buy a muffler, and have a shop weld and bend some pipes to make it fit. 2" - 2.25" piping does wonders.
and also if fabricate yourself a custom air intake (using dryer duct hoses) and a K&N cone filter you will really benifit from much better throttle responce.
If you are really into hiway driving (speeds of 110 km/h +) i would highy recomend you hybrid your tranny, by swaping your 5th gear for a 5th gear outta a later model d series civic (like d16y8). the short gears of a G1 are fun, but at hiway speeds the car tends to rev a lil too high for my taste.
-as for possible problems, (all side mounted distributor honda's suffer this), the bearings can take a dump, that can cause the main shaft to seize causeing your timing to trip (can cause internal engine damage) look on the inside of your distributor for a brown/reddy dust. also since the coil is mounted inside your distributor they tend to die as well. ive seen both these problems occur to vehicles anywhere between 160k-260k km's. if you do alot of urban driving, Id suggest picking up a used one and keeping it in your trunk. its really easy to change on the side of a road!!

I am a G3 owner, but it all started off with a G1, then a g2, and now currently I have 2 G3's
