Default Chassis life?

Hi I searched around for a thread on this but I kept getting every post with the word 'life' in it.

I was wondering if anyone knows the general life of a honda chassis. More specifically a daily driver, all 4 seasons.

I just got an 95 Integra, 100k, and I want to start building on it next spring but the fact is it will be a somewhat lengthy process. I don't want to drop a few grand and have the floor rust out so does anyone know how long I could keep it alive? Any preventative measures?

I can't tell u the life of it , but i would recommend taking it to a mechanic to have their opinion of it, they can put it on a lift and check for any oxidation or potential oxidation, and im sure they could tell u what they would recommend for preventing possible future rust and such.

Chassis life really depends on how the car is maintained. For instance, if you live in the salt belt, and the previous owner didn't wash the undercarridge of the car...you could have potential salt oxidation and rust. Likewise, chips in the paint left untreated can lead to rusting of panels, etc. So, like grade said, have a mechanic check it out.

My Integra's chassis has about 171K miles on it, no rust whatsoever because I've been quite meticulous about washing the underbody and filling paint chips.

well I'm up in toronto so i dont think i have the salt water problem. But salt from the winter is a problem. i so far have been filling the chips but I'm planning on repainting and getting all the dings and scratches out. I'll get it to a body shop soon tho. thanks again.
