No, your car would be as flexible as a del sol if you tried to cut the top off

No, there isn't.

The car would have serious structure problems if you even tried it without a lot of reinforcement.

it would prolly take $5k in work to get the top off and make the car still safe, and then a whole lot more the make a top that could go back in in its place and actually seal. want a targa, buy a targa.

A guy on dsmtalk.com made a targa top 2g and reinforced the chassis with a custom roll cage.

It can be done, but it'll be custom.

Actually I was thinkin gof doing the same Last summer. It would look absolulty Insane. except in the event of a collision i could see the entire car collapse. the roof structure plays a big part in the way a car crumples in an accedent.
- yes a roll cage would work, but no one knows for sure how it will handle an impact.

The only way I could see such a system working would be to custom fabricate a T-Top structure like the Mk2 MR2 Turbo, with custom fabricated gaskets, roof panels, seals, latches, headliners etc....[talk about $$$ :eek3:]

And along with all that, you'd have to deal with the tops of the door frames. You'd have to keep the A-pillars aligned perfectly while grafting in a whole new roof structure.
Iin essence you'd be totally re-engineering the way in which the loads and stresses are distrbuted throughout the car.. and for little increase in the amount of openness over a stock sunroof. :eh:

I really wouldn't bother.

The end result would probably be a FWD, 2900lb flexy-flyer of an Integra....dare I say it.... an equivalent to the infamously crap Mercury Capri XR2 convertible.
