Default Tranny Question, What will fit??

I have a few questions on what trannys i can swap in and stuff...

I have a 91 integra

Can I put in a ITR tranny? I think its a hydro tranny or somthing right?

Can I put in a 3rd gen GSR tranny

Can I use any 3rd gen trannys??

I would just like to know what trannys will fit, and what the specs are on them...what ones have LSD, what ones have dual syncros (if any)

Sorry my question is kinda scattered..

Thanks

As all b-series will swap onto b-series. the g2 uses cables, not hydro's. You would need to install a hydrolic system to use a G3 transmission.

The ITR is the only transmission that came with LSD.

There were several assorted JDM cable transmissions that had an optional LSD.

The '92-'93 GSR had a YS1 cable transmission that had the short gear ratios but no LSD. There was also a '92-'93 JDM YS1 with those gear ratios. You have to watch out though, because every '92-'93 B-series cable transmission is some form of YS1.

Aside from that the JDM Y1, S1 and J1 were used on various iterations of '88-'91 B16A-equipped Civics and Integras. They all have similar gear ratios to the '92-'93 GSR, ITR, and '99-'00 Si, but the Y1 has the taller 4.266 final drive while the S1 and J1 have a 4.4 final drive. LSD was optional on some, if not all, of them.

One other thing to note, is that there are three different styles of B-series clutches. One for '88-'91 cable, one for '92-'93 cable, and one for '92-up hydraulic. The Y1 and J1 use the '88-'91 cable style clutch, which is obviously the same as the one you have at the moment. However if you're going to be taking the transmission off then now would be as good a time as any to put in a new clutch.

Basically if you want to change the transmission I would go for some kind of cable one. Either an S1 or J1, or a YS1 from a VTEC car.

Why do you say watch out? What wrong with YS1??

Also, im guessing the clutches must be a little different but once again all interchangable on b-series motors...so i need to buy the clutch to match the tranny that I pick??

Thanks for the help

Because if you don't confirm the gear ratios you could end up with another LS transmission, and I'm guessing you don't want that.

Im looking into replacement because my tranny is getting the wonderful 3rd gear grind in it and the case is cracked to crap, the fill bolt hole is stripped, and its got over 200k on it...it needs it.

I wasnt aware that my tranny was considered an 'LS'. Does this tranny have what people consider long gears lol. Man they are almost to short, going 60 pullin about 3k on the tach, thats just not right lol.

How much shorter are B16s??
