I don't know where you got $45 for a B&M Short Shifter at? Unless you're talking about a used one. Jeg's sells the B&M Short Shifter for $140. Now they have the "Edge" shifter...which is counter-balanced on the bottom for "more exact shifts"...but even that will run you $60. Maybe other places sell them cheaper...but not for $45.

The more expensive one you're thinking about has an adjustable throw and stuff like that.
