Default clutch problem ?? i think

Well when i release the clutch and push the gas it kind of stutters and then it goes. The car starts to jump a little and it feels really nasty. Anybody know what the problem is? Is it time for a new clutch or is my tranny real messed up? lol im a real noob when it comes to this.

Not good. Probably not the tranny though. Sounds like clutch chatter. Maybe a bad throw out bearing. If your clutch is hydraulic, check the fluid. If it's manual ,and the clutch is letting out all at the top, try tightening the cable a little.

hey my 94 integra rs did that. Does it only do it in 1st or all the gears. Cause mine started in first in second but it ended up being a tie-rod. it felt like my clutch but it was when i started moving. So if your really not sure check out the tie rods on both sides. Wouldnt hurt to check.

I am having a similar problem with my 97 ls (@81K). When starting in 1st gear from a stop, I get some chatter. 2nd gear and above show no symptoms. I can make the chatter disappear by "riding" the clutch in 1st, i.e. taking a bit longer from the point the clutch first engages until full engagment, but that's just going to wear out my clutch quicker. Any other ideas besides what has been metioned in this thread?

Ironically, I just had the timing belt and water pump replaced (200 miles ago), and the shop commented on my clutch fluid leaking. After the service, the shop had told me that my clutch master cylinder was leaking (I've known about this for some time) and that they had filled the resevoir because it was nearly empty. Could the timing belt/water pump service or filling the resevoir have anything to do with the clutch chatter?
