Default Whiring noise

Yes i searched, and found that this MAY be what i think it is...

When the guy i bought the car from installed a timing belt he didnt adjust the tentioner...and there is a whiring noise coming from what sounds like the power steering area/ the crank pully area/ the timeing belt area...

First can i take this down to the dealer and have them adjust the tention, is it somthing thats easy to do and wont cost me much?

and also could the whiring noise be caused by a loose belt?

Thanks

The tensioner is too tight. Have someone give it some slack.

Are you sure? he said he did NOT touch it when installing the new timing belt, which would lead me to belive that putting a new, not steched timing belt, on a tentioner set for a worn out timing belt would cause the new one to be loose.

And if it is to tight, is there possible damage to the timing belt???

Thanks

I don't know why he told you NOT to touch it. Sounds like he was hiding something. It's possible you're stretching it, but I'd highly recommend you loosen it or you will jack your valvetrain.

He didnt tell me not to touch it, he said that when he replaced it he DID NOT touch it...i hear that to adjust it you loosen the bolt behind the plug rotate the crank 3 teeth and tighten it back up...is this true?
