How great is the Type R
I'll throw in my 10 cents here since I've owned a few high performance cars and driven some exotics. I've owned a 94 Rx7 with a M2 stage 3 kit (good for approx 330 hp). This car hauled ass, was rare, looked beautiful, comfortable car for long trips, and was a real adrenaline rush when pushed hard. On the downside, it was very impractical, had limited space, the engines were notorious for blowing up, and got 15mpg on average. If I were going to have a daily driver and a toy, I'd choose the Rx7, but if I were to have one car to satisfy my needs for practicality and fun, I can't think of any car I'd rather own that my ITR (except for an ITR with more HP that is equally reliable and economical).
By the way, I've also owned a 92 Vette LT1 that I only purchased because I got a great deal on it and sold it for more than I paid for it. These cars are better suited for men going through a midlife crisis than for a car enthusiast. I've never hated a car as much as my Vette.
Other cars I've driven... Viper (I kept unintentionally revving it way past redline as I'm used to the 8000 redline on the Rx7 and 8400 on the ITR; also, the drivers seat isn't centered with the steering wheel and pedals which is really anoying, even for the 10 minutes I drove the car), a 911, 928S4, and my friend's modified 300zx twin turbo w/ approx 400hp.
Of all the cars, the ITR has the best communication between road and driver, even better than my stock suspensioned Rx7. If you live in an area with windy roads, you'll love the ITR. If you live in a town with perpendicular streets and stop lights, you won't understand what the ITR is all about and would probably want something with more low end like the Supra you mentioned.

Well like all of the others have siad. The R handles so awsome. Sure it might not be as fast as the Supra or some of the others out there but from a stock stand point the R will be kickin @$$ on the others. Also I am one around here in A-Town that everyone knows as "the guy with the black "R". Have not had any problems w/ theift (knock on wood) yet, but dollar for dollar you WILL NOT find a better performing car from the factory at it's price, but that is my opinion. It's also hard to bet Acura reliability. I Love it.
I sold my 00' Type R in April. It was the worst thing I could have done. I bought an 02' Subaru WRX and ended up selling that too! I wish I still had my Type R. Even though the WRX had AWD and was a bit quicker, I actually liked my Type R more. And I miss it more and more each day. Now, I only hope that they bring another Type R to the U.S., whether it's the RSX or Civic version.
