Default swapping auto for manual

I have a crappy auto tranny in my 95 LS that can't rev past 3k rpm in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears and accelerates past 80mph at a blazing 1mph/sec :madfawk: . I was wondering how much it would cost to swap for a manual LS tranny or even for an auto replacement. Is it worth the risk picking one up from a junkyard, or should I search for rebuilt ones or possibly rebuild mine? What is the cost differential between the options? Any place online I should start my research on first?

i would buy one from hmotorsonline.com or one of those reputable sites... if you're gonna swap out your tranny anyway, id recommend getting a 5 speed.

you're gonna need a load of parts... ecu, pedal set, clutch/flywheel, clutch booster (do they call it that?) and tranny... shift linkage, shifter, shiftknob, center console. i have some of the parts (ECU, pedals, shifter & knob) id be willing to sell you, ill meet you halfway... so we each drive about an hour. that might save you some cash...

I just did a B series auto to manual swap not too long ago. You'll need the tranny, clutch, flywheel, clutch fluid reservoir, hard lines, pedal assembly, shift linkage, shifter, manual tranny ECU, and I know I'm forgetting something else. You'll also need a tranny mount. I believe there is an issue with the location of the tranny mount point between the auto and manual cars. I know there is in an EG, but I'm not 100% sure with an Integra. If this is the case, then a custom mount will have to be made, or the mounting point will have to be relocated. In the swap I did, we just cut the mounting point off, corrected it's size, and welded it on in the correct location.

any other place you know of that's cheaper? Is it too optimistic on my part to hope for a procedure that'll cost me under $2k total?

I'd almost sell the car and find a manual LS... most likely would be cheaper that way...

How much cheaper would it be to replace it with an auto LS tranny? The only reason I wouldn't just hunt for another teg is cause my car only has 70k miles on it and the frame/interior is in very good condition.

a lot of people all but throw the auto trannies away, its just a matter of finding them... try jasper engines and transmissions, they have a warehouse near rochester, maybe you can pick up and save $

are you sure your tranny is shot? If you wanna do the manual swap, only do that if you plan to keep the car for good. You will get shit resale value for a car that had a swap like that done to it

With my limited knowledge of how cars work, I'm only assuming that my transmission is crapping on me. I feel every jerk of when it switches gear even when fully warmed up, sometimes it would just drop 1k rpm and a gear for no reason at a steady speed when I'm going uphill, I can't get it past 3k rpm in any gear but first and it has trouble going past 85 mph.

Maybe I'm just being naive, but I do want more power and more control of my car, which is why I'm thinking of an option of swapping it to a manual. Any yes, I would like to keep this car and run it to the ground, hopefully for years to come.
