Default 93 Integra LS with Overheated Engine, what's it worth?

A friend has a 93 integra ls with 180k miles on it with an overheated engine in it. Its been sitting for about 2 years now( i remember when it originally overheated). Its a blue hatch. Pretty good condition inside and out. Just don't know what's wrong with the engine.

Whats a price i should pay for this if i wanted to buy it from him? I'm thinkin about 800-1k. What u think?

What exactly is wrong with it as a result of overheating?

well...

he never got it checked out really. It wasnt run hot for very long. He could start it the next day but it sounded horrible(i didnt hear it). But the day after that he couldnt get it started.

I'm assuming maybe the head's gone on it. But i cant be sure.

That aside, there is the problem that originally was the reason it overheated. Maybe the water pump went bad? Radiator problem? Thermostat? Not sure. But just as is, not knowing thats wrong with it is what i'm asking.

Thanx!

So essentially it's a '93 LS with a motor that's either dead or in need of a bunch of work.

I'd say your $800 number is the absolute most I'd pay. At the very least you're going to have to drop a bunch of money into it to get it running again, or perhaps buy a whole new motor. Do you want a project or are you just trying to get into an Integra for cheap?

I'm tryin to get a teg for cheap. I will pay someone to fix the car. It most likely need a new engine, that way i'll be prepared for the worst if he says i only need a new head.

So you say 800? any other opinions?

I would say 6-800. And i would just drop a new motor in it. If everything works out ok your lookin at about 2000 total for that car (w/out labor).

If you were going to drop the motor in yourself I'd say go for it. If you're going to pay someone else to do it, you might as well just buy a car that runs. Any shop you go to is going to charge at the very least 60 bucks an hour for labor and it takes a good while to swap a motor.

the body and interior are close to perfect.

I honestly dont want to do the engine swap myself cuz of all the hassle, i dont know more than routine maintenance. I can learn, but its a hassle. If anyone here's done it witht he knowledge that I have, let me know how hard it is.

Thanx for all ur replies btw.

would anyone around the atlanta area...maybe even AL or SC..possily FL be willing to do this job for me?

I still need to buy the car from the guy and get it to a shop to at least be diagnosed, unless someone here really knows what could be wrong. I'm hoping just head damage, but block damage might be inevitable.
