Hondas High emitters according to California
Just got the cars smogged, passed but the teg had to go to a test only station(For twice the $$ ) The guy tells me that Hondas are notorious smog producers, despite the fact that mine blew clean as hell. I said something about Honda making pretty good engines and he says, "That is a common misconception that Honda promotes." I reply with, "I know of many Honda vehicles that have multiple hundreds of thousands of miles and still run great, so how is that a misconception?" He doesn't have an answer for that, but was a nice enough guy. I figure there are a lot of modded Hondas in Cali that are "failing the smog test in huge numbers", as the smog guy said. Anyone know about this. I am not looking forward to spending double on the smog for the teg in two years, but on the bright side, the bug will be exempt soon so it will even out for me. And as an added plus, I can upgrade the bug from 50 to 150hp and not have to worry about dirty exhaust

I agree that there are probably a lot of modded Hondas that are having problems passing smog. Seems like everyone is asking how to make their cars pass Cali smog or complaining about some kind of test. Also, I suspect there are more Hondas (and Toyotas) with high mileage (over 100k) that come to get smogged, whereas other cars are usually junked by then.
